If Recovia has contacted you, we have been instructed by a business, organisation or public sector body you owe money to. This page explains what happens next and the options open to you. Whatever your situation, the worst thing you can do is nothing — the letter will set out a deadline, and unanswered demands escalate.
Your letter includes a Recovia reference, the name of the business we act for, and a full breakdown of the amount claimed, including any statutory interest and compensation. Please quote the reference in every payment and every message to us.
The fastest way to close the matter is payment in full — by bank transfer to the account details in your letter and on our Make a Payment page, online by card, or by card over the phone on 01527 304059. Always quote your reference.
Contact us. In many cases we can agree a formal repayment plan that resolves the debt over time and stops further escalation. A realistic plan you keep to is treated very differently from silence.
Tell us in writing, as soon as possible, with the reasons and any supporting evidence — contracts, delivery records, correspondence. Genuine disputes are put to our client and collection activity on the disputed amount is paused while it is reviewed. A dispute must be substantiated; simply objecting to the debt does not pause the process.
You are entitled to independent advice at any time:
• Citizens Advice — citizensadvice.org.uk — free advice on debt, legal matters and your rights
• Business Debtline — businessdebtline.org — free debt advice for sole traders and small businesses
• StepChange Debt Charity — stepchange.org — free advice on managing personal financial difficulty
We do not use harassment or aggressive tactics. Our contact will always be professional, our letters will always set out the basis of the claim, and if you tell us about circumstances that make you vulnerable, we will take them into account in how the case is handled. If you believe we have fallen short, our complaints procedure is on the Legal & Compliance page and every complaint receives a substantive response.
